The Power Play Awards recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of remarkable women and the men who uphold the importance of supporting and empowering them in the workplace. These individuals demonstrate how a mutually supportive environment can help support great business outcomes across all parts of the LNG value chain.

The key objectives behind these awards are to shine a light on the newcomers and smaller players in the LNG value chain, in particular, encouraging nominations from resource holders, buyers, partners and FSRU providers. We invite all players in the LNG business to submit nominations for these awards which are open now!

The three categories for the 2019 Power Play Awards include:

The Rising Star - Outstanding Young Professional

The Rising Star Award celebrates one woman, 35 or under, who is excelling early in her LNG career. She shows tenacity and passion through her already noteworthy contributions in the LNG sector. Known by peers and mentors as part of the next generation of LNG leadership, she's someone to watch.

The Vanguard - Outstanding Leadership

The Vanguard Award honors a woman or man who through their words, actions and attitude, inspires those who work with and around them. This individual has a collaborative leadership style that builds bridges and finds solutions. They carry a sense of purpose in all that they do, whilst maintaining a commitment to ethical work practices with the aim of being a responsible global citizen.

The Rainmaker - Outstanding Business Impact

The Rainmaker Award honors a woman who has delivered outstanding business results, showcasing the value that women bring to the LNG value chain. Colleagues might note her unrelenting drive or unique ability to advance a business goal, but she likely describes herself as someone who thrives on success. Qualifying events may include, for example, the close of large deal, launch into a new country, a new installation, a cost-saving initiative or an innovative commercial deal.

In its inaugural year, 2019, there are three Power Play Award Categories, with finalists and one winner in each category.

While the Power Play Awards are largely about bringing industry recognition to those shaping the present and the future of LNG, each winner will also receive a custom-designed award. This will be an award one will proudly display and others will aspire to attain.

Additionally, winners and finalists will be invited to attend the Power Play Awards presentation at Gastech Exhibition and Conference 2019 in Houston and will be recognized in the following ways:

  • Profiles listed on the Power Play Awards website
  • Recognition in all media and promotion, including official press releases
  • Graphics to display on email signature and social media profiles

The winner in each category will also receive an opportunity to have a "seat at the table" and network with industry executives at the highest echelon of the energy business at one of the following events:

  • Oil and Money
  • CERA Week, opening dinner
  • Gastech, opening dinner
  • LNG series, opening dinner

To the extent a winner is unable to accept any or all of the award due to international or local laws or regulations, Power Play Awards reserves the right to substitute an award consistent with such legal limitations.

The nomination period for the Power Play Awards opens Monday, April 8 and closes on Monday, July 15, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. EST followed by community voting. The nomination process requires that the nominator completes the appropriate nomination form and submits the completed nomination form(s) by the nomination deadline.

Anyone can submit a nomination including employees, associates, friends, family, partners, customers or yourself. All nominees must be employed in any discipline within the "Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) value chain," including exploration, extraction/production, storage, liquefaction, transportation and regasification or professional services.


Shining a light on the women and men making a difference in LNG is the best way to ensure LNG remains a place for the highly capable people to lend their talents and perpetuate a cycle of inclusion and collaboration.


The Power Play Awards recognize the accomplishments of key players within the LNG value chain who contribute to a supportive environment for women in the field. The award administrators will promote the award winners and finalists via social and traditional media programs. In addition, the winners will have the opportunity to network with top industry executives at the highest echelon of the energy business at select events.


Anyone who meets the requirements of that particular award, provided they are employed in the "Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) value chain" which includes (but is not limited to) exploration, extraction/production, storage, liquefaction, transportation and regasification or professional services. The key objectives behind these awards are to shine a light on the newcomers and smaller players in the LNG value chain, in particular, encouraging nominations from resource holders, buyers, partners and FSRU providers.


Anyone can submit a nomination including employees, associates, friends, family, partners, customers or yourself. 


The entry deadline is Monday, July 15, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST


No there is no cost or associated fees for the nominations.  


The 2019 judging process will rely on the expertise of an impartial panel of seven international experts across the LNG Value Chain, with a demonstrated interest in equity and inclusion within the energy sector, as identified and vetted through Power Play Awards administrators. After the finalists are announced, the community will be invited to cast a vote in each category. The community vote will represent a percentage of the final score.


Individual criteria differ by category, but the emphasis is on the overall quality of the entry and the merits described related to advancing diversity and inclusion in energy. Each entry may be awarded up to 100 points based on the following criteria:

  • Business Impact – Demonstrated correlation between business outcomes and inclusion
  • Positive influence – Others have benefited from nominee's sphere of influence and mentoring
  • Innovation – Nominee applied innovative thinking to push boundaries and overcome challenges
  • Communication – Demonstrated communication style that inspires others, adapts to audience to get things done
  • Vision – Makes decisions with future impact in mind and chooses to lay groundwork for future diverse leadership
  • Award Category – How closely the applicant meets the spirit of the category for which they were nominated
  • Judge's Discretion

Finalists will be announced and notified in late August and an awards ceremony announcing the winners will be held at the Gastech Exhibition and Conference in Houston on Wednesday, September 18, 2019.
