Five decades of reshaping energy.
The early years

2000-2010
During the 2000s, we expanded into the liquid markets of Europe and the US, while also drawing on our well-established co-venture in Asian markets.
In 2009, the United Kingdom’s natural gas grid was connected to an LNG storage and regasification terminal, which has the highest regasification capacity in Europe at 15.6 Mta (nominal) and initial regulatory approvals for a potential expansion to 19.5 Mta. Also in 2009, the Adriatic region saw the installation of the world’s first fixed offshore LNG storage and regasification terminal. This innovative structure, mounted on a gravity base, was linked to Italy’s national gas distribution network.
In March 2022, the Adriatic LNG terminal received final regulatory approval to increase its capacity from 5.9 to 6.6 Mta.

2011-2022
In Papua New Guinea in 2014, an integrated development project was started that includes natural gas production and processing facilities, onshore and offshore pipelines, and liquefaction facilities.
In 2016, the integrated Gorgon LNG subsea-to-shore development began producing resources from the Gorgon and Jansz-Io fields and includes carbon capture and storage facilities.
In 2022, The Mozambique Deepwater Area 4 block contains more than 85 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and will provide resources for multiple world-class LNG projects. Commissioning activities are underway on the Coral South Floating LNG (FLNG) project. Coral South FLNG will be the first facility to produce LNG in Mozambique and will operate in waters nearly 6,500 feet deep.
