APEC CEO Dialogues 2020

Re-energizing the economies of Asia Pacific

Over the past year, we have witnessed a pandemic, unstable market conditions and the plummeting of oil and gas prices. Despite these high levels of uncertainty, there will be a recovery. ExxonMobil has always taken a long-term view, particularly with regard to economic development and resulting energy demand scenarios.

While 2020 has seen a slowdown in growth, there are signs of an economic recovery – particularly in the Asia Pacific region. As the IMF recently projected, economies in emerging and developing Asia will contract by 1.7 percent in 2021 and are projected to grow by 8 percent next year, in both instances outperforming every other world region.

Don’t miss Irtiza Sayyed, President, ExxonMobil LNG Market Development Inc. explain how advancing the use of LNG  will play a role in re-energizing the economies of the Asia Pacific region post COVID-19. He will be joined by other keynote speakers, Takeshi Soda, METI Director of Oil and Natural Gas, Japan and Tengku Taufik, President and Group CEO of Petronas, Malaysia.

Tze San Koh, President, China Gas Marketing, ExxonMobil LNG Market Development Inc. will be speaking on a high level panel covering the topic of  ‘Empowering women for economic recovery’. The panel will focus on ways to enhance the private sector’s engagement in APEC’s gender initiatives and bring private sector expertise into policy discussions. Tze San will be joined by Ambassador Kelley Currie, U.S. State Department Global Ambassador for Women Issues, and Ms. Renee Graham, Chief Executive of New Zealand’s Ministry of Women. Welcome remarks will be given by Kawal Preet, President of FedEx Express Asia, Middle East and Africa.
